The Authority manages the emirate’s tourism sector and markets the destination internationally through a wide range of activities aimed at attracting culturally-sensitive visitors and increased investment, which includes the organisation, hosting and promotion of major events. Its policies, plans and programmes relate to the preservation of heritage and culture, including protecting archaeological and historical sites and to developing new museums as part of Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Island Cultural District; including the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi. The Authority also supports an ongoing programme of intellectual and artistic activities, as well as cultural events, to nurture a rich cultural environment and honour the emirate’s heritage with the objective of enriching the lives of residents and visitors alike.
